A FILM BY GINA WENZEL AND INGO HAEB

The film tells the story of the Baumanns family, who live in Niersdorf, a town on the Lower Rhine that is due to make way for lignite mining in a few years' time. Since the death of her husband, Marita Baumanns has run the local family bakery together with her brother-in-law Klaus, his wife Irene and their daughter Natalie. The Baumanns want to stay in Niersdorf as long as they can - "until the digger comes". However, the rifts in the village community caused by the impending relocation initially affect the business and ultimately the Baumanns' seemingly stable family structure.
